The challenge

Adopting a new business tool: Acting as an international aid agency, Islamic Relief Worldwide provides humanitarian support to communities around the globe. Operating in the UK and through field offices in more than forty countries, clear communication is a constant endeavour. By investing in the Microsoft Office 365 suite, they asked 44 Communications to suggest how use these new tools to the best possible effect.

 

The solution

Digital insight: Our digital and strategy team organised one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders in the UK and around the world, to understand first-hand the current issues and opportunities that people were facing. Supplemented by an all-employee survey, we were able to identify the key strategic themes, and tactical recommendations for how Office 365 could improve how Islamic Relief Worldwide worked together, plus some extra opportunities that we picked up along the way.

 

The results

By producing our Office 365 Discovery Report, we were able to supply the Islamic Relief Worldwide team with an intranet feature set and content wish-list which, taking the words from our interview transcripts, was supported by the voices of the colleagues themselves. The report is now being implemented as part of IRWs global internal communications strategy, as part of their global colleague strategy under lockdown, and a wider move towards digital collaboration across borders.
